Wyndham Clark and Sam Burns climb U.S. Team standings after top U.S. Open finishes
Tom Kim moves 19 spots in International Team standings with third-place finish
CHICAGO — With under 100 days until the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club, Wyndham Clark delivered an unforgettable finish at the U.S. Open, earning his fifth career PGA TOUR win and surging up 12 spots in the U.S. Team standings to No. 8.
On Sunday at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Clark clinched a wire-to-wire performance, closing with a final round 73 to secure the win at 4f-under par. The 32-year-old becomes the third wire-to-wire winner on TOUR this season and adds a second major championship to his resume, having previously won the 2023 U.S. Open. The victory marks his second multi-win season on TOUR (2023, 2026) and further solidifies his position among the top U.S. players to watch for Captain Brandt Snedeker’s 2026 team.
Sam Burns also added to what has been a successful last month on TOUR, finishing runner-up to earn a significant boost in the U.S. Team standings. The five-time PGA TOUR winner jumped six spots to No. 5, putting himself firmly in position for an automatic qualifying spot heading into the final stretch of the season.
Clark is seeking his second Presidents Cup appearance (2024) while Burns is seeking his third (2022, 2024).
Tom Kim made the biggest move in the International Team standings following a standout week at the U.S. Open, climbing 19 spots to No. 10 with a third-place finish at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. The result, which came on his 24th birthday, marks another milestone for the rising star as he continues to build momentum in his career. A two-time Presidents Cup participant (2022, 2024), Kim is now in the mix to earn his third consecutive appearance, this time under International Team Captain Geoff Ogilvy at Medinah.
The 2026 U.S. Team will be comprised of six (6) automatic qualifiers and six (6) Captain’s Picks, with the ranking determined through a weighted system based on FedExCup Points from January 1, 2025, through August 23, 2026. The six automatic qualifiers will be finalized following the 2026 BMW Championship (Aug. 23).
The 2026 International Team will be comprised of six (6) automatic qualifiers and (6) Captain’s Picks, with the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) used to determine the former. The automatic qualifiers will be finalized following the TOUR Championship (Aug. 30).
