International Team Captain Geoff Ogilvy Announces Camilo Villegas as Captain’s Assistant for the 2026 Presidents Cup

Villegas set to make his third appearance as an assistant for the International Team

CHICAGO – International Team Captain Geoff Ogilvy announced today that Camilo Villegas will return as a captain’s assistant for the 2026 Presidents Cup, which will be played at Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 3, Sept. 22-27.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Camilo back as a captain’s assistant for the 2026 Presidents Cup,” said Ogilvy. “Camilo’s history with this event, his passion for the International Team, and the respect he commands within the locker room make him a tremendous asset. This appointment is really a continuation of the strong working relationship we’ve built over the years, and his experience, energy, and leadership will play an important role as we prepare for Medinah. I’m looking forward to working closely with him as we continue to build on the culture and momentum of the International Team.”

Villegas, 44, will return in 2026 for his third appearance as a captain’s assistant. Villegas was added to the leadership roster in 2022 at Quail Hollow Club by Trevor Immelman and was tapped again in 2024 at Royal Montreal Golf Club by Mike Weir.

The Colombian represented the International Team at the 2009 Presidents Cup at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. In addition to being a five-time PGA TOUR winner, Villegas reached a career-best No. 7 in the Official World Golf Ranking and represented Colombia in the World Cup of Golf in 2006 and 2011.

“It’s a tremendous honor to once again be named a captain’s assistant for the International Team, and I’m excited to work under Geoff’s leadership as we prepare for the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club,” said Villegas. “This will be my third time serving in this role, and the camaraderie, competitive fire, and pride that come with representing the International Team never fade. I experienced it in 2022 in Charlotte and again in 2024, and I know that same spirit will carry forward as we continue to build momentum and success for our team.”

Ogilvy’s first selection to his captain’s assistant committee comes during the Zurich Classic in New Orleans week where both he and Villegas are in the field. Ogilvy is teamed up with fellow Australian and 2022 Presidents Cup International Team member Cam Davis and Villegas will tee it up with Colombia’s Marcelo Rozo. Ogilvy has four remaining spots available to round out the slate of captain’s assistants.
