“I am thrilled to lead the 2028 Presidents Cup at Kingston Heath, an iconic venue that is primed to showcase global team golf,” said Vice President and Executive Director Joe Tomek. “Melbourne sports fans have a passion and energy that are unmatched, and bringing this international event back to Australia is an incredible opportunity. Tomek joined the PGA TOUR in 2015, beginning his career in corporate partnerships where he managed relationships with more than 20 Official Marketing Partners and title sponsors. Before assuming his current position, he helped shape the commercial strategy and drive partner activation across several of the TOUR’s flagship events including the Presidents Cup, THE PLAYERS Championship, TOUR Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He holds a degree from the University of Dayton (BS, Sport Management) and the University of Central Florida (MBA, Master of Sport Business Management).
“Joe’s leadership of the FedEx St. Jude Championship combined with his deep experience managing some of the PGA TOUR’s most significant commercial partnerships, underscored by our season-long partner in FedEx, makes us incredibly excited to see him take on the role of Executive Director for the 2028 Presidents Cup,” said John Wolf, Senior Vice President, PGA TOUR Events. “He is a natural leader and his ability to elevate sales, strengthen relationships, and inspire teams will be a tremendous asset over the next three years. We know he is eager to relocate to Melbourne this spring to hit the ground running as we prepare for what we project to be the largest international Presidents Cup in our history.”

Consistently ranked as one of the top courses in Australia and around the world, Kingston Heath was designed by Australia’s Dan Soutar and features a natural bunkering layout spearheaded by legendary architect Alister Mackenzie in 1926. Notable champions at Kingston Heath include Gary Player (1970 Australian Open) Adam Scott (2012 Australian Masters), Karrie Webb (2008 Women’s Australian Open), and Tiger Woods (2009 Australian Masters), who won on his sixth continent with the victory in Australia.
The 17th edition of the Presidents Cup will mark the event’s fourth visit to Melbourne, matching Gainesville (Virginia, USA) for most Cups contested in one city. Its most recent trip to Melbourne was in 2019, when World Golf Hall of Fame captains Ernie Els and Tiger Woods squared off at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in one of the most dramatic Presidents Cups in history, with Woods’ United States Team mounting a final-day comeback to win the Cup.
“We’re excited to work with Joe and the PGA TOUR to bring this incredible event to life and to showcase what makes the Victorian Sandbelt such an iconic golfing destination,” said Steve Dimopoulos, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events. “The Presidents Cup is one of the world’s biggest golf events, and we’re delighted to have a long-term partnership bringing the global event to be played here in 2028. As we saw when Rory McIlroy played in last year’s Australian Open, golf events like this put Melbourne and Victoria on the global stage – driving visitation, filling hotels and supporting thousands of local jobs.”
Kingston Heath will represent the fifth international venue to host the Presidents Cup, joining The Royal Melbourne Golf Club (1998, 2011, 2019); The Links at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate (2003); The Royal Montreal Golf Club (2007, 2024); and Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea (2015).
